How To Train Your Mind To Think Positively?
The Roman philosopher-emperor Marcus Aurelius understood the power of our minds: “Our life is what our thoughts make it.”
Being aware of the kind of conversations you have with yourself and with others is a great starting point to re-train your mind. If most of your thoughts and talks are packed with self-doubt, harsh criticism, and disastrous predictions, you will definitely have a hard time achieving your goals. What you feed into yourself (the seeds you plant into your mind) has a direct influence on how you feel and how you behave. That of course will also determine the kind of results you will obtain from your actions.
To be successful and make the most of your life, you need a new way of thinking about yourself and your own life: work, earning, spending, savings, relationships, and what a good life means to you. Start thinking positively and creatively about solving problems that will allow you to live your life in your own way. Focusing on the possibilities of success instead of all the ways you can fail will allow you to identify more opportunities and take on more challenges.
Your meaning of life, your purpose, and your values must be known to determine the right lifestyle. Being aware of them and being able to prioritize your efforts to achieve them is the right way to live a good life.
Prioritizing requires planning and seeing the bigger picture to plan actions for achieving your goals. By making something a priority and constantly thinking about it (via autosuggestion), you will influence your mind, thoughts, and actions.
You’ve heard it many times, but perhaps you have not internalized this idea yet. The key to your success rests in your own mind. You must control your thinking. Remember that “We become what we think about” – Earl Nightingale. “It’s more about who you have to be, instead of what you have to do” -Robert Kiyosaki.
Learn how to focus the mind to observe and control your thinking and the five senses—sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch. Remove the autopilot in your mind, thoughts, and actions. Change your life for the better. You must discipline your thinking, watch your thoughts. Don’t just embrace your present condition as your destiny.
What About Risks?
You need to train the mind to see what the eyes could not. It sounds a little out there, but it is really not. You need to learn how to be aware of your thoughts and how to control them. You need to identify which thoughts are emotion-based and which ones are logic-based.
It is not about playing it safe and not taking risks. It is about playing it smart and learn how to manage risks. Avoid worrying about all the reasons why you can’t be successful and instead think about all the reasons why you can. Never run away from what you know you need to learn. Face your fears and doubts, and new opportunities will open to you. You must be true to yourself. Be proactive, be a product of your choices, remember you are always free to choose.
Take control of your life. All you must do is to be conscious. Identify your reality, not a set of external norms. Re-evaluate, re-think your priorities, and rebalance your time and your relationships. Identify and do the changes you need to make. If you don’t feel well where you are, move away from your own status quo and take action, do something. Being with your family, finding a meaningful life, living a much calmer, more thoughtful, and self-directed life could be all you need. Focus on guiding and judging your own decisions and priorities.
Change Your Life by keeping it simple, making needed changes to lifestyle and mindset. Things like spending less, expanding your sources of income, saving more, working less, or enjoying the small things more could make the biggest difference to be happy or happier. The only difference between happy people and those who are not so happy is that those happy made the conscious decision to be that way.
“We’re all self-made but only the successful will admit it” – Earl Nightingale.
Prepare yourself mentally for the freedom and responsibility of shaping your own life, creating new structures for your days, new activities. Ask yourself how your life will be in 3 years from now. Then plan and begin carrying it out right now.
“Begin to act as would the person you most want to become now. You can alter your life by altering your attitudes of mind. So, practice your new attitude every day, start today you have nothing to lose but you have a life to win” – Earl Nightingale.
Avoid perfectionism. “The greatest enemy of a good plan is the dream of a perfect plan. Stick to the good plan.”-John C. Bogle.
Remember that life is over so quickly, that finding meaning in life is paramount. One regret of the dying is that we are trading our life away. Our most precious resource is our time on Earth.
We spend at work an excessive amount of time. We need to change our life by keeping them simple and under our conscious control. The good news is anybody can learn” how to change their life. There is no magic or secret to achievement; it is all about creating new habits.
